“Architecture that Reacts” Laka Competition Winners

Laka Competition, a BFI Outreach Partner, recently celebrated the winners of their 2015 competition, “Architecture that Reacts”.

The objective of this year’s competition was to investigate socially engaged architecture that reacts to varying circumstances.

As described by the organizers, “Architecture that Reacts” is “architecture which is able to respond and adjust dynamically to the current needs and circumstances. These circumstances are often unpredictable, but their consequences can be crucial. The architecture that reacts is the architecture that lives as a living organism, since it responds to the external stimuli and it develops because of it — to react is to live.

The first edition gathered over 100 submissions and almost 200 participants from 5 continents and 30 countries. The jury selected 3 winners and 10 honorable mentions.

At the events, Laka presented:

–the winning competition boards from “Architecture that Reacts”
–a presentation about virtual reality and its implementations
–a scale model of the 1st prize, “Fluid Architecture” by Calvin Fung and Victor Huynh of Canada (model fabricated by LabDigiFab)
–virtual Reality visualizations, Videos360, Photos360 (all VR materials prepared by 4Experience)

Laka also took the time to speak to their audience about the Fuller Challenge.
