Bucky in Black Mountain College Exhibition at ICA Boston

A recent piece in The Architect’s Newspaper reviewed the “Leap Before You Look: Black Mountain College 1933-1957” exhibition at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston, and referred to Fuller’s teaching process in the late 40s:

“In 1948, visiting instructor R. Buckminster Fuller engaged students to build his first geodesic dome of venetian-blind slats. The project was named the Supine Dome when it failed to rise—an outcome Fuller had anticipated, as he was teaching students to build with maximum efficiency…”

A recent New York Times piece also reviewed the exhibition, highlighting Fuller’s Great Circle Sphere Model on display.

The Black Mountain College exhibition at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston closes on January 24th. The exhibition will subsequently move to the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles. Stay tuned for news of BFI programming at the Hammer Museum!
