2015 Challenge Winner Awarded at Inspiring Celebration!

On the evening of November 19th, 2015, BFI hosted the 2015 Fuller Challenge Conferring Ceremony at the Wythe Hotel.

The evening was generously sponsored by in-kind donations from the Cooper Union Institute for Sustainable Design, Whirlwind Creative, and Brooklyn Brewery.

Despite the downpour outside, guests packed the venue and represented the diversity of BFI’s broad network of supporters: architects, designers, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, educators, artists, scientists, and more.

Guests enjoyed the launch of the 2015 Fuller Challenge video and celebrated the work of Fuller Challenge Winners GreenWave along with the 2015 Finalists: Matthew Atwood of Algae Systems, who came from Daphne, Alabama; Ariel Shepherd of Community Architects Network, who came from Jakarta, Indonesia; Peter Arnold of Mahila Housing SEWA Trust, who came from Ahmedabad, India; and Cécilia Rinaudo of the Nubian Vault Programme, who came from Ganges, France.

Guests enjoyed the opportunity to connect over drinks and food, and were inspired by an hour-long program of remarks, comprised of:

A Welcome Address from Elizabeth Thompson, BFI’s Executive Director
Reflections on the life’s work of R. Buckminster Fuller by Allegra Fuller Snyder, Fuller’s daughter
An Introduction to the Fuller Challenge by Sharifah Taqi, BFI’s Director of Operations
Remarks from Michael Ben-Eli, Advisor to BFI and founder of The Sustainability Laboratory
Remarks from Bren Smith, Founder of GreenWave
