Regenerosity

Regenerosity flows trust-based funds to high-potential, community-based initiatives in threatened or degraded landscapes in ways that grow their capacities, scale and impact.

Amid the crossroads of climate, social and economic crises, protecting and restoring the bio-cultural diversity of life on Earth is the challenge of our times. One powerful approach is the transformation of food systems and livelihoods, through applying the principles of Agroecology, Indigenous-led restoration and regenerative practices. When this work is led by local communities and informed by their traditional ecological knowledge, long-lasting social, ecological, and economic impacts are seen. Grassroots organizations and leaders are essential to increasing the resilience of their local communities while helping to protect and restore threatened or degraded ecosystems. Regenerosity identifies, resources, and connects them to amplify their crucial impact.

Regenerosity was initially incubated as a flagship program of Buckminster Fuller Institute from 2019-23, when it became an independent fiscally sponsored project of BFI.

Co-created to engage a range of stakeholders at multiple levels, Regenerosity’s programs provide funding, organizational support, and platforms, to drive broader systemic change in support of the grassroots regenerative movement.

  • The Blossom Program is a two-year capacity strengthening program co-designed with partners who employ regenerative practices at the intersection of food sovereignty, livelihoods, and ecology. Blossom resources local grassroots organizations to strengthen their capacity, leadership skills, and works to prototype new models so that they can grow into regional hubs. Through regional cohorts and peer to peer learning groups, it supports the development and connectivity of these grassroots regeneration hubs, allowing for community-centered initiatives to proliferate across bioregions.
Each Blossom bioregional cohort resources 4-5 organizations and benefits thousands of members of indigenous and local communities in Brazil, East Africa, and India.
  • The Seed Program provides a space for funders to flow funds quickly to where they are needed most, by placing decision making in the hands of community leaders. It is driven by a clear purpose to empower community leaders to address emerging needs, seize opportunities, and create immediate impact through nimble and adaptive funding. Grassroots practitioners work alongside local coordinators, representing a diversity of nature-inspired approaches and knowledge systems that build resilience
The East Africa Women & Youth in Permaculture and Brazilian Indigenous Women’s Flow Funds, have supported a diverse array of unique, context-dependent community initiatives in Brazil, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
  • The Nurture Program convenes aligned funders interested in learning, sharing, and experimenting with allocating financial capital in ways that are trust-based, coherent, and inclusive, in order to address social and environmental challenges at the root. It seeks to create an inspiring environment focused on action, shared practices, and experiments to help funders challenge and evolve our practices.

The community of 70+ funders gathers in quarterly calls, webinars, and in-person retreats and supports pooled funds that put learning into action.

  • The Pollinate Program highlights the underrepresented stories of regeneration and is currently focused on the upcoming film series Liberation Agriculture, co-produced with A Growing Culture, which focuses on communities across the U.S. that are shaping our food system. Through their diverse stories, we weave the thread that reconnects agriculture with culture. This shows that our most basic means of nourishing ourselves can’t be broken down into its constituent parts — it has to be valued as a holistic part of our lives.

Since 2019, Regenerosity has been platforming partner stories to grow the regenerative movement and accelerate the flow of resources. Visit their new website below or at regenerosity.world !
