Three Architects of the Invisible

As Metropolis highlights, three present-day architects are focusing on “the totally integrating significance of the 99 percent invisible activity which is coalescing to reshape our future” mentioned by Bucky in his thoughts in the Whole Earth Catalog.

Sean Lally works with energy. “It’s difficult to get architects and the general public excited about the importance of energy, other than it being an ethical and moral dilemma,” Says Lally, who works with “walls of air, columns of heat, and cones of light”.

Susannah Drake works with ecology, integrating her training in both architecture and landscape architecture to design outdoor spaces in tune with the needs of people and their communities.

Likewise, Philippe Rahm works with climate, deeply integrating the invisible tangibles of air masses like humidity, temperature, and movement into his work.
