Marco Zappalorto

Marco joined The Centre for Challenge Prizes in September 2011 and serves as the European Prizes Lead. He has developed and managed successful challenge prizes for UNDP and the European Commission. Marco is the author of the Practice Guide and is widely regarded as a lead international expert on the design and delivery of challenge prizes. He is currently managing the network of international challenge prizes practitioners. Marco co-developed the suite of Challenge Prize training workshops and has delivered them to diverse audiences across the world.

Marco also worked on the Beyond the Banks programme which aimed at identifying new ways to get finance flowing to the best SMEs. Prior to Nesta, Marco worked for OmniCompete, managing the execution of prize competitions in a wide range of sectors for both the public sector and industry. Marco also worked for the Enterprise Europe Network (EU Commission - DG Enterprise and Industry) within the London Chamber of Commerce where he provided advice to SMEs on EU issues and opportunities.
