Karen Simons

Karen Hiniker Simons, principal, Hudson Varick Resources, is a food system and agriculture consultant working with businesses and non-profit organizations on policy, research and food system planning in the New York area foodshed. Karen is currently working on the Local Economies Project’s Hudson Valley Food Hub Initiative, which focuses on sustainable economic and community development through farming and food related businesses in Hudson Valley. Other recent food chain projects include research on the barriers of local food system financing in Hudson Valley, business development for a new dairy farm and processor, improving local school food procurement in a New York City private school and landscaping New York City’s food organizations.
