The 2017 Buckminster Fuller Challenge, now in its tenth year, received a record number of entries. To select a winner of the $100,000 grand prize, the jury will review more than 460 submissions.

Through our prestigious Fellowship Program, BFI welcomes outstanding early-career practitioners to join the Fuller Challenge Review Committee for four months of the rigorous application review process.

There are just a few weeks left to enter the 2017 Fuller Challenge! The final deadline is Friday, March 31st at 5pm ET.
WHAT IS THE FULLER CHALLENGE?

BFI will offer an informational webinar about the Fuller Challenge on Wednesday, February 8th at 2pm ET. BFI staff will provide a conceptual and technical guide to entering the 2017 Fuller Challenge. The webinar is free and open to the public.
HOW CAN I PARTICIPATE IN THE WEBINAR?

New York City - January 13, 2017 - The Buckminster Fuller Institute (BFI) formally announces the Call for Proposals to the 2017 Fuller Challenge.
On November 16th, BFI hosted the 2016 Fuller Challenge Conferring Ceremony at the Wythe Hotel in Brooklyn, New York. The 2016 Fuller Challenge Winner was awarded the $100,000 grand prize. Twelve finalists were recently selected in the 2016-17 World Habitat Awards. These included 2015 Fuller Challenge Finalist The Nubian Vault Programme and 2016 Fuller Challenge Finalist Cooperación Comunitaria. Read about the awards and the recognition of our incredible finalists here.

Congratulations to the Winner of the 2016 Fuller Challenge, The Rainforest Solutions Project: a collaborative effort between three environmental organizations, which played a critical role in developing one of the most extraordinary approaches to conservation, social justice, and indigenous rights in recent memory. The Buckminster Fuller Institute is pleased to announce the winner of the student category of the 2016 Fuller Challenge: The Center for Human Habitat and Alternative Technology (CHHAT) at Vadodara Design Academy in Gujarat, India, submitted by Sapan Hirpara. CHHAT is a student initiative that explores, incubates, and disseminates strategies for the built environment through a collaborative design-build process in order to meet real, contextual needs. August 23rd, 2016, New York City: The Buckminster Fuller Institute is pleased to announce the Finalists for the 2016 Fuller Challenge. These six Finalists have reached the final deliberation phase and are under consideration for selection to win the grand prize and an award of $100,000.
