As you may have noticed we have been in the process of updating our website and have 'soft' launched version 2 of bfi.org as of today. There are still a few kinks to be ironed in the next few weeks. Your user feedback will be invaluable to this process. Please LOG IN to the site and add your comments to this posting.
This website is a unique experiment: we have made it possible for our users to post content directly to this site. All of the content in our COMMUNITY CONTENT section has been posted by our users! We invite you to participate and make BFI.org your own — as a repository of your educational resources, projects and articles.
Please be aware also that some content that has been posted to v1 of our site is still missing from this site. I am looking to re-sync our databases shortly.
Best,
— Jochen

Hi all,
Just an update that we switched hosting again this weekend and are now hosted with Civic Actions. We decided to make this jump in order to have more technical support for hosting issues and to also be able to use the CiviMail feature of CiviCRM our CRM system. CiviMail allows us to have more control over the email communications that we send out (BFI Design Science News and other newsletters) and is a much more robust mass mailing setup than what we have been using to date.
I have re-synced our two sites databases and all postings, comments and user-accounts that were created during the transfer phase should be present on both sites.
Please be patient as we adjust any minor glitches.
Thanks,
Best,
- Jochen
Keep it up! This site is an experiment in what one person can do and you, Jochem, are helping to facilitate this project.
Hi all,
just an update that today we have upgraded our site to the latest versions of our content management system and our database backend. There are some minor glitches still that will be resolved within the next two days.
Best

Robert,
sorry for the delay. Yes, profiles are on the list of things to do, as are 'organic groups' which allows members to create groups for networking, similar to linkedIn but with more social networking functionality.

Pythagora5,
thanks for the feedback. I would be interested to know what you would improve. I was trying to look at your site (communication-ethics.org.uk) but it gives me a 'server not found'...
Thanks

well done on this move toward an interactive site - sorry to blow cool air on the achivement tho, but you forget to get a professional desinger in to optimise the design...really you'll move from a 1100 geeky users (an amazing calibre of geek tho) to 100,000...
i know professionals cost money - well not if they love something - but bucky did all the design for you anyway, as the photos attest...i could go on about the awful colours the horrible typography, the messy page layout...however the functionality is amazing and thank you for that and all the work so obviously cherished on this excellent project...rb
Jochen,
Great job, the site is looking good. I have bfi.org linked from my blog RSOTech.com and will from a few more of sites I maintain. As a suggestion, I would like to have the ability to create a profile similar to linkedin.com http://www.linkedin.com/profile?viewProfile=&key=2359475&fromSearch=0&sik=1178229902274&split_page=1&rd=in&goback=%2Esrp_1_1178229902274_in or fedora.org http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/RobertWhetsel?highlight=%28robert%29%7C%28whetsel%29
We could publish in our profiles, research, projects or experiments that we are conducting in addition to the blog articles. I would further expand the site to have the ability to create groups of interested parties for collaboration – a BFI social community.

hi jochen,
the site looks AMAZING! congratulations!
i was looking for RBF's patents -- found them by using search function but noticed that they are archived int he image galleries. They used to be posted under 'who is buckminster fuller'. it would be great to have a posting (with image) in this section
thanks!
