I have invented the quickest, slickest way to make tensegrities. I call it the Klyp Styx system (pronounced “clip sticks”). It is an easy way to clip sticks together in an eloquent, flexible, multiple joint. You can see them in action at the unfinished web site klypstyx.com.

I'd like to learn from the experience of others as I embark on a journey to build a modular lightweight construction system that utilizes synergetics for form and load bearing optimization.

I've run into a few snags so far, but don't let my focus on composites bother you. I'd just like to know things like wat experiences people have had building tetrahedral trusses, for example, or joining struts for domes in whatever material they are using.

If other have experience with smaller structures, that would be very helpful. I am thinking tinker toys, and hobbyists who might have some experience.

Does anyone think it is conceivable to develop community based dehumidifiers which can generate drinking water for communities as opposed to water treatment plants which cannot remove many of the impure chemicals which make their way into our waterways?

There is always humidity and the technology is available. Please post on this idea to develop solar powered water plants.

I believe that Buckminster Fuller's idea of the Trim tab is critical to understanding current stagnation of politics in Washington.

The small changes that would lead to big socially beneficial changes in Policy are not made because political people are busy making the small changes which will lead to bigger changes that are benificial to specific interests which they foster.
I am saying that unless the trim tab principal is openly discussed in government, vested interests will continue to employ it for narrow interests only.
A corrolary of this is that the public sector does have a special power which can be used to obtain leverage over social issues thru the leverage of the trim tab applied to the social rudder of a new policy applied to society..

Mouth of Babes is a new internet tv series that will begin airing June 2008. Ruthie our pregnant mother and Mikko her two year old son will demonstrate, practical, fun and easy foods that are particularly good for providing extra nutrients that pregnant mothers and young children need for brain and body development.

not 100% sure this post is appropriate or not. I just wanted to know whether anyone within the community had any comment to make on the science of implosion as it relates to Viktor Shaubergers work. i sell Vortex Energizers which have been inspired by the principles of implosion and attraction of 'ether'. This combination used to purify and energize water in a most practicle way.

The studies provided to me on their validity is not comprehensive, however, my personal use is comprehensive which is why I sell them.

Is there a belief within the community that current western science is the only measure of the validity of a particular theory?

The Tanzania Sanitation Project is a non-profit mission aimed at creating a healthier, stronger, greener future of Tanzania.

Established by students and faculty of the United Nations International School in New York City, our project aims to implement a waste management system in Tanzania, one country where improper waste management uncontrollably affects and burdens the population’s daily lives.

The improper management of waste triggers severe environmental and health problems, with the consequences of poor waste management on human health and the environment becoming more noticeable each day. Garbage is piled in the open, posing health threats to children who play and live in the area. What is not collected is dumped is usually on the near street. These polluting wastes are breeding sites for insect-vectors, pests, snakes, and vermin that augment the likelihood of disease transmission. Additionally, studies prove that the majority of diseases in Tanzania are partly due to the failure to dispose of garbage correctly, which have resulted in many devastating and easily prevented diseases such as dysentery, diarrhea, scabies, skin diseases, eye problems, typhoid, and intestinal parasite becoming widespread among poorer communities.

Our objective will be achieved by taking a number of steps to improve not only the waste management in Tanzania but additionally to educate the citizens of the importance of environmental health. By implementing a sustainable waste management system in each village, enabling the community to recognize the damaging consequences their present improper waste management situation imposes on their environment and everyday lifestyles in addition to the awe-inspiring benefits that await a solution, and by recruiting local participation and efforts to dispose of their wastes properly, we will successfully achieve our goal.

In addition, the Tanzania Sanitation Project aims to ensure long-term sanitation sustainability and proper hygiene in Tanzania by educating the locals on environmental sanitation through garbage collection and disposal. Through the education, the project also aspires to provide numerous opportunities for those in the community. The implementation of a waste management system in each village should also open many doors to the locals, as they will be offered the chance to be apart of this beneficial project and maintain its system.

• Sustainable waste management systems in targeted areas including collection, transportation and land filling.
• Prevention of pollution and littering
• Educating locals on environmental sanitation and the need for a proper management of waste
• Involvement and participation of the Tanzania community

Each year over 200 million tons of human waste and huge quantities of solid waste are uncollected and untreated around the world. This fouls the environment and exposes million of children to disease and squalor. Improved environmental sanitation leads to less environmental degradation, increased sustainability of environmental resources, and a safer atmosphere for children.

Architects in Holland are showing the rest of the world a way of turning adversity into opportunity.

The inevitable rise in sea level that comes with climate change is going to make it increasingly difficult to control flooding in low-lying Holland. But instead of cursing their fate, architects are designing a new Holland that will float on water, and the Dutch government seems willing to try out the scheme. Holland has made other countries begin to question, too. Who says you have to live on dry land?

A 'portrait' of R. Buckminster Fuller

Rubicon Theatre Company presents "R. Buckminster Fuller: The History (and Mystery) of the Universe," which opened Thursday at the Rubicon Theatre, 1006 E. Main St. in Ventura.

The show, directed by D.W. Jacobs, is a portrait of 20th century architect, engineer and inventor R. Buckminster Fuller, who is known for creating the geodesic dome.

Fuller is played by character actor Joe Spano, who played Lt. Harry Goldblume on the television drama "Hill Street Blues."

Spano has also appeared in movies such as "Apollo 13," "American Graffiti" and "Hollywoodland."

Special performances of the show include a gala on Sat., Jan. 19, which starts with a preshow champagne reception; postshow discussions with the director and performers on Wed., Jan 23 and 30; and an audiodescribed performance on Sun., Feb. 3 for visually impaired and blind audience members, who may listen to a live description of the performance via headphones.

The show runs through Feb. 10. Showtimes and ticket prices vary.

BUCKMINSTER FULLER GEODESIC DOME IN NORTH CAROLINA

Our company's current mission is to acquire Shelton Cove Village, a parcel of land in the Great Smoky Mountains of North Carolina (near Maggie Valley) that is home to the Aspenglow Retreat and Conference Center (comprised of several multi-use buildings on 37 acres of woodland, meadowland, a stream, areas suitable for hiking, wildlife, and other features of natural beauty) upon which to establish an eco-educational-health-spiritual center and community retreat, with a music and performing arena, gift shop, restaurant, nature sanctuary, and memorial garden. It is also home to a 50-ft. tri-level greenhouse from John Denver’s Windstar Foundation, erected there in 1986. Ultimately we will serve as a forum for fostering new attitudes by promoting an appreciation of nature, indigenous cultures, music and the arts, and serving as a network for the sharing of ideas, visions, and the highest aspirations of humanity...to offer a sense of how to make the world a more sustainable, equitable place for all peoples.

One of our goals is to investigate the viability of re-establishing the biodome as a functional environmental project, and add other alternative environmental technologies such as solar and wind, as well as a food co-op.

I have just recently finished my first book outlining the details of a new philosophy, based to a large extent on Fuller's Synergetic Geometry. What I think will be of interest to Fuller fans everywhere, especially the more philosophically inclined, is the following. The goal of this work, similar to Fuller's, is to give a grounding of abstract concepts in the empirically-empowered imagination. I use visual means, namely diagrams, models, and visual-based explanations to unfold a conceptual and holarchical evolution or "embryogenesis" of fundamental mathematics. In its critique of standard mathematics and mathematical philosophy (meta-mathematics), this interpretation forms a bridge between Synergetic Geometry and standard mathematical thought. I argue and demonstrate that Fuller's geometrical system is more fully rational than standard mathematics because, among other reasons, it is fully empirical. I show also that hidden in the conceptual underpinnings of mathematics is an operational axis central to the unfolding of rational conceptuality itself. And Synergetic Geometry, I show, is centered on this hidden axis, deriving its first dimension in the setting of scale for the system. This is why Fuller's system is intrinsically four-dimensional. Three-dimensional geometrical systems neglect this hidden axis and do not fully or properly operationalize it. They merely embody what I call "representational relation", whereas four-dimensional systems, such as Bucky's, embody or encode "structural relation." This is why geometrical models of physics are necessarily four-dimensional, rather than three-dimensional. Real/physical relation is structural, not merely representational. It is the closing off of representation from its sub-representational substrate, I show, that is one hallmark of pre-rational models.

SpinbitZ is a playful, whirling, churning, folding and unfolding set of ideas for the illumination and integration of abstract philosophical concepts through the integrated use of the imagination and its percepts. SpinbitZ constructs a set of philosophical "graphical user-interfaces" at the vision-logic level of cognition. It is thus a philosophy of vision-logic interfaces, employing the "triune interfaces," or "cultivated thirds" hidden within the polarities of every duality, dichotomy, controversy and paradox to build a consistent system for the effective understanding and resolution of their key esoteric truths, rather than for their dualistic and reactionary refutation. In using these interfaces to trace a nondual thread of rationality to its historical roots, it is discovered that only the dualistic, exoteric (or commonly understood) forms of rationality begin with the Greek trinity: Socrates, Plato and Aristotle. By reconnecting to the earlier nondual truths of Heraclitus and Parmenides, the conceptual axis-mundi itself (what Lao Tzu called "the door to all wonders") is found spinning at the core of Zeno's paradox, and thus at the core of nondual rationality. Through a fusion of Art, Science, Mathematics and Philosophy—and with the help of nearly a hundred detailed diagrams and illustrations—this embryogenesis of rationality is traced as it reconnects to the alternative lineage of philosophy uncovered by Deleuze, with a nondual fusion of the systems of Spinoza and Leibniz.
In esoteric Theosophy it is said that in the "shock" of the interface between Spinoza and Leibniz "the essence and Spirit of esoteric philosophy would be made to appear." Unfolding through these vision-logic interfaces, this Interface Philosophy finally appears to reconcile many of the dualities plaguing the history of exoteric rationality. In its nondual interface with empiricism and Integral theory, for example, a detailed sketch of an Interface Epistemology is unfolded. Operating at the crossroads of the ontic-epistemic (reality vs. knowledge) and subject-object polarities, the evolutionary symbiogenesis of the exoteric dichotomies at the foundations of human knowledge is examined—illuminating and reconciling the "ontic-shadow" of post-modernity.
The process of reanimating these hidden nondual truths of rationality demonstrates that mathematics itself mirrors this holarchic structure implicit in the embryogenesis of the concept. This is because mathematics, as the art and science of pure relation, employs the most rarefied and abstract form of the concept, e.g. numbers and operations. Unfolding in layer upon layer, this Interface Mathematics transitions from the "oppositional forces" of dualism, ultimately again to the "intensive," integral or "second-tier" truths, and to the originary axis-mundi of the nondual. In making mathematics visible, visceral and understandable—a Vision-Logic Coordinate System is constructed revealing two fundamental axes of conceptual thought (one of which is this axis mundi or immanent/transcendent axis). Spinoza's "three infinities" are then shown as the triune interface, or cultivating third between these binary axes, for illuminating and reconciling the many paradoxes and controversies of infinity—e.g. Zeno's, Galileo's and Cantor's—as they wind their way into the truths of our modern mathematics of the continuum and set-theory.
