Apparently No One Has Notified The Universe....

Submitted by William Daniels on Tue, 2009-10-06 19:38.

APPARENTLY, NO ONE HAS NOTIFIED THE UNIVERSE THAT THERE IS AN ECONOMIC CRISIS ON EARTH

Sunshine is still beaming aboard the planet at the same rate as before the crisis began. Corn, rice, almonds, olives and peanuts are still growing and producing at the same rate as they did before the crisis. The same is happening with all food crops everywhere.

Airplanes still have the same load carrying capacity. Automobiles get the same fuel mileage pre and post crisis. The capacity of trees to produce lumber products has not changed. Butter and iron ore still melt at their same respective temperatures. The amount of electricity it takes to power 60 watt light bulbs has been constant.

However, despite this consistency, the Associated Press (10/5/2009) reported that the “…financial meltdown…wiped out 11% -- $6.6 trillion -- of household wealth in six months".

Webster defines economics as: ”…production, distribution and consumption (use) of goods and services”. The Universe produces stuff. The Universe distributes stuff. The Universe uses stuff. So, the Universe IS an economy, THE Economy.

However, the Universe works differently than the human “economy”. The Universe does all this producing, distributing and using according to specific rules that don’t change. The rules of the human “economy” change continuously.

Also, the Universe has no “medium of exchange”. It lets sunshine and rain fall on everyone who happens to be in the path of the sunbeams and water drops. Air is available to everyone, everywhere on the Earth surface. Crops grow for all humans who follow the rules for growing plants. In other words the Universe is a direct-access system, no money, no middle-men.

So, I suggest that we humans do one of two things:
1) Inform the Universe that there has been a reduction in wealth, and ask it to adjust outputs accordingly. It’s very exciting this way.
2) Get rid of “mediums of exchange”, since the Universe uses a direct-access system.

Either way, I think things would work better. Having two systems is very cumbersome.

How About Creating A Direct-Access Economic Management System?

Submitted by William Daniels on Sat, 2009-09-12 16:35.

HOW ABOUT CREATING A DIRECT-ACCESS ECONOMIC MANAGEMENT SYSTEM AND GET RID OF MONEY (MEDIUM-OF-EXCHANGE) BASED ECONOMIC MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS?

Along with fear, guilt and sex, money is a favorite tool that humans use to control each other. Get rid of money? Those who control monetary systems: the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the Federal Reserve, etc. and large international businesses, use money to control governments. Governments use money to control other governments, their own citizens and smaller businesses. Businesses use money to control their employees. Customers sometimes use money to control businesses. Parents use money to control their children. Siblings and friends use money to control each other. Back and forth, and on and on, money is a very effective weapon that is used by almost everyone.

Is money necessary? To manage an economy, absolutely not. Contrary to popular belief, money is not necessary to live.

What is necessary to live? Food, shelter, health care, education, communication, transportation and recreation, these are necessary to live a quality life. Has nature ever charged money for sunlight, rain, food plants, metal ores, petroleum, air, electrical energy, cotton, trees, granite, sand, fire, etc? We have repeated the lie so often that it takes money to live, that we mostly don’t even question the idea, and when it is questioned, it is met with ridicule, amusement or dismissal, because it is so outrageous to conceive of living without money.

Economics is: production, distribution and use of goods and services. Nature, is an economy. Nature produces stuff. Nature distributes stuff. Nature uses stuff. Nature does this continuously. Money is A method of managing a local economy. It is a tool. It is used to determine who gets, how much access to, goods and services.

The fundamental principle of money is: I am “withholding from” you, what I have. Only if you have something that I value equally, or more, than something I have, will I exchange with you.

Nature, on the other hand, “shares with”, freely. Nature allows everyone to pick fruits and vegetables, absorb sunlight, have rain fall on them and breathe air. Nature allows airplanes built with US dollars to fly equally well over countries that use Yen, Marks and Yuan and over oceans with no money system at all. Has Nature ever charged for anything?

How can we manage an economy without money? It is possible to measure the energy, materials, labor and process time that it takes to produce all goods and services. We do most of this already, although we pay attention almost exclusively to the ever-changing money value of these. It is also possible to establish a principle that says: If you exist, you are entitled to an equal amount of all the energy that is available for all human endeavors. This is direct-access economic management, no money necessary, simple, fair, honest, loving.

Direct-access is possible. Money is incredibly stimulating though, both on the giving and receiving sides of the control dynamic.

Inefficient Nature by Trevor Blake

Submitted by synchronofile on Sat, 2009-01-17 19:48.

R. Buckminster Fuller (1895 - 1983) claimed that nature was efficient. Fuller claimed the efficiency of nature was the model he used for his inventions, inventions with which he attempted to ‘do more with less.’ As part of a critical analysis of Fuller and what he called comprehensive anticipatory design science, this essay will demonstrate that Fuller’s claim is false.

The Puppets of Buckminster Fuller

Submitted by synchronofile on Sun, 2008-12-07 14:30.

Synergetics was Buckminster Fuller’s attempt to bridge science and the humanities. Fuller employed many forms of communication to teach synergetics. He was the author or subject of dozens of books and hundreds of essays. He was a tireless public speaker, lecturing before hundreds of thousands in over one hundred globe-circling tours. Less known than these means of communication, Buckminster Fuller also used puppetry to teach synergetics through a long association with his friend and professional puppeteer Bil Baird (August 15, 1904 – March 18, 1987). Baird and Fuller crossed paths several times, and are known to have collaborated in several ways.

SpinbitZ: Interface Philosophy, Mathematics and Nondual-Rational Empiricism

Submitted by subtillioN on Tue, 2007-12-04 18:27.

Hi folks,

I have just recently finished my first book outlining the details of a new philosophy, based to a large extent on Fuller's Synergetic Geometry. What I think will be of interest to Fuller fans everywhere, especially the more philosophically inclined, is the following. The goal of this work, similar to Fuller's, is to give a grounding of abstract concepts in the empirically-empowered imagination. I use visual means, namely diagrams, models, and visual-based explanations to unfold a conceptual and holarchical evolution or "embryogenesis" of fundamental mathematics. In its critique of standard mathematics and mathematical philosophy (meta-mathematics), this interpretation forms a bridge between Synergetic Geometry and standard mathematical thought. I argue and demonstrate that Fuller's geometrical system is more fully rational than standard mathematics because, among other reasons, it is fully empirical. I show also that hidden in the conceptual underpinnings of mathematics is an operational axis central to the unfolding of rational conceptuality itself. And Synergetic Geometry, I show, is centered on this hidden axis, deriving its first dimension in the setting of scale for the system. This is why Fuller's system is intrinsically four-dimensional. Three-dimensional geometrical systems neglect this hidden axis and do not fully or properly operationalize it. They merely embody what I call "representational relation", whereas four-dimensional systems, such as Bucky's, embody or encode "structural relation." This is why geometrical models of physics are necessarily four-dimensional, rather than three-dimensional. Real/physical relation is structural, not merely representational. It is the closing off of representation from its sub-representational substrate, I show, that is one hallmark of pre-rational models.

____________________________________________________________

SpinbitZ is a playful, whirling, churning, folding and unfolding set of ideas for the illumination and integration of abstract philosophical concepts through the integrated use of the imagination and its percepts. SpinbitZ constructs a set of philosophical "graphical user-interfaces" at the vision-logic level of cognition. It is thus a philosophy of vision-logic interfaces, employing the "triune interfaces," or "cultivated thirds" hidden within the polarities of every duality, dichotomy, controversy and paradox to build a consistent system for the effective understanding and resolution of their key esoteric truths, rather than for their dualistic and reactionary refutation. In using these interfaces to trace a nondual thread of rationality to its historical roots, it is discovered that only the dualistic, exoteric (or commonly understood) forms of rationality begin with the Greek trinity: Socrates, Plato and Aristotle. By reconnecting to the earlier nondual truths of Heraclitus and Parmenides, the conceptual axis-mundi itself (what Lao Tzu called "the door to all wonders") is found spinning at the core of Zeno's paradox, and thus at the core of nondual rationality. Through a fusion of Art, Science, Mathematics and Philosophy—and with the help of nearly a hundred detailed diagrams and illustrations—this embryogenesis of rationality is traced as it reconnects to the alternative lineage of philosophy uncovered by Deleuze, with a nondual fusion of the systems of Spinoza and Leibniz.
In esoteric Theosophy it is said that in the "shock" of the interface between Spinoza and Leibniz "the essence and Spirit of esoteric philosophy would be made to appear." Unfolding through these vision-logic interfaces, this Interface Philosophy finally appears to reconcile many of the dualities plaguing the history of exoteric rationality. In its nondual interface with empiricism and Integral theory, for example, a detailed sketch of an Interface Epistemology is unfolded. Operating at the crossroads of the ontic-epistemic (reality vs. knowledge) and subject-object polarities, the evolutionary symbiogenesis of the exoteric dichotomies at the foundations of human knowledge is examined—illuminating and reconciling the "ontic-shadow" of post-modernity.
The process of reanimating these hidden nondual truths of rationality demonstrates that mathematics itself mirrors this holarchic structure implicit in the embryogenesis of the concept. This is because mathematics, as the art and science of pure relation, employs the most rarefied and abstract form of the concept, e.g. numbers and operations. Unfolding in layer upon layer, this Interface Mathematics transitions from the "oppositional forces" of dualism, ultimately again to the "intensive," integral or "second-tier" truths, and to the originary axis-mundi of the nondual. In making mathematics visible, visceral and understandable—a Vision-Logic Coordinate System is constructed revealing two fundamental axes of conceptual thought (one of which is this axis mundi or immanent/transcendent axis). Spinoza's "three infinities" are then shown as the triune interface, or cultivating third between these binary axes, for illuminating and reconciling the many paradoxes and controversies of infinity—e.g. Zeno's, Galileo's and Cantor's—as they wind their way into the truths of our modern mathematics of the continuum and set-theory.
