The creation of lightweight composite panels (fiberglass reinforced plastics FRP, or carbon-resin composites) makes for transportable, containerized, stackable, packable, air-liftable, nearly instantaneous building structures for temporary use.
Illustrations of assorted ways that two basic shapes can form hundreds of enclosure structurally self-supporting configurations are posted now for about 3 years.
These structural elements include the force transmission components usually provided by girders, rafters, posts, beams, trusses, joists, etc.

Mutually supportive persons seeking to create the future require funding, and licencing of intellectual property is a means Bucky used to support hisa ctivities. For example I read that Bucky reaped $1,000,000 per year through a ten-year period selling licences to the US govt for Geodesic Domes used in the DEW Line radar enclosures in the arctic.
To dump ideas into the public domain without ever trying to accumulate the wherewithal to fund progress is neither in the Fuller tradition, nor is it the most sensible option open.
Offering low-cost or no-cost licenses to bonafide emergency shelter providers, while charging reasonable licence fees to for-profit corporations selling panels at Home Depot to homeowners to build backyard storage sheds or equipment garages or greenhouses or small barns, is a reasonable approach.
These panels are so designed that a 320 room space station, enclosing nearly 10,000 cubic meters of volume can be carried in weighing the normal 40-ton load of a highway 18-wheeler semi trailer. (Of course space transport vehicles carrying that much cargo do not quite yet exist -- the Space Shuttle system can only carry slightly more than half that load, but a 160-room space station is not too shabby either.)
The funding from popularizing such modular building panels is intended to go towards revolutionizing urban lifesyles to updated 21st century ecocity standards. That is not a trivial goal.
In-depth descriptions are posted on my website: http://ecosyn.us, where about 8 chapters of a free ebook are online, plus another 100 megabtes of over 3,000 files, illustration, texts, what-if spreadsheets, are published for no charge or fees.
Not everything needs to be free. Some income generation is required to seed the transformation from eco-hostile to eco-friendly urbans where more than half the world population already lives and pollutes.
Those few people who think this is a concept worth carrying forward are invited to share their thoughts or get invlved.
Giving to charity is noble, and helping those in desperate need is important. That can be accomplished out of tithing the sales of the same useful ingredients required to do that, when sold to the affluent and carefree public. I think accomplishing more than one goal through a simple concept is called synergy, a useful word that Bucky found almost nobody understood in his day. Is it understood yet?

Are you like me? With a mind filled with artifact images. After reading Bucky at length, my mind began generating ideas for portable shelters, foldable Vector-Flexing tetrahedron or a geodesic dome. I desire to to design the applications that will create these images into actual useable shelters. If you can recommend any software to facilitate design layouts, I would appreciate it.
