Dome Owners Creating Web Pages to Display Their Progress
February 19, 2008 -
Some of American Ingenuity’s Dome enthusiasts created websites and blogs to spread the word.
In the British Virgin Islands, Craig’s Dome is coming along beautiful. There is the most breath taking view. See his pictures and even order prints at: http://picasaweb.google.com/MirkoSangers/CraigDomeBVI?authkey=AnY4kGwflwY
The Hoskin’s Project is looking great. Brian Hoskins is his own builder and is doing a great job in Melbourne, Florida. He has detailed the time he has spent on his dome and has some great pictures. Visit the Hoskin Project at: http://www.ownerbuilderbook.com/blogs/users/TheHoskensProject.aspx
The Sabin’s website is very thorough. They have their progress and pictures mapped out at: http://dome.brucesabin.com/index.html (hint: click on “to catch the latest news”, to get to the pictures). Their dome is in Frostproof, FL and is looking good. Kudos to the Sabin Family!

I built two domes in 1972-1974. One dome was the 14'diameter hemisphere framework to support an art work of stained glass panels, called Wholeo Dome. I got the aluminum specs and strut lenths from Domebook II by Lloyd Khan. The other dome was a 16'diameter 5/8 framework of bent aluminum tubes using Fuller Bamboo Dome specs in Domebook II, covered in polyurethane foam, roll roofing, vinyl, etc., called Bump. I've documented these structures extensively over 10 years, mainly on my website, wholeo.net. Explore, don't be discouraged if you get lost. Use the search box on the opening page of the site. The domes are recently featured in a book called "Spaced Out" by Alastair Gordon. I found Bump to be a wonderful living space and Wholeo Dome a wonderful artwork. I continue to work with Buckminster Fuller to this day and am going to enter the challenge this fall.
