Science and tech disrupting design

With the ongoing blossoming of 3D scanning and printing, science and technology are creatively disrupting the world of design in completely novel ways. Designboom highlights three examples here:

  • A 3D-printed cast system that is individually tailored to fit the user’s injured limb, inspired by insect exoskeletons.
  • A self-adaptive training shoe that restructures itself in response to an athlete’s activities.
  • A carbon-fiber bicycle that provides haptic feedback in its handlebars in response to objects in the user’s blind spots.
