BFI Spans the Globe Seeking Challenge Contenders
BFI and Dror Studios's gathering of designers across disciplines was typical of the outreach BFI conducted this fall in search of contenders to win the Buckminster Fuller Challenge. Events spanned the country and the globe via web-convened Q&A sessions with our Challenge review team.
Designer Dror Benshetrit, 2010 BFI Challenge Fellows, Ashley Thorfinnson and Sahar Ghaheri, 2009 BFI jurors Bill Browning and Hillary Brown, were on hand to discuss what designers are doing to address business-as-usual approaches with whole-systems design thinking in order to create a new design science practice engaged in ecological and socially-responsible solutions. The Buckminster Fuller Challenge criteria was used as the orientating framework for the dialogue. The event took place on October, 12, 2011, in New York City.
This design salon was part of a Fall series of outreach and networking events BFI led or participated in, leading up to the October 24, 2011 deadline for the 2012 Buckminster Fuller Challenge.
